Ailsa Craig, Ontario

Located North-West of London and South of Grand Bend. It’s situated between and close by to both a big city and the beautiful beaches of Lake Huron. The Ausable River runs through Ailsa Craig with lush forest surrounding the river banks. Ailsa Craig is surrounded by farmland.

Population

Ailsa Craig is a small town with a population of around 6,352.

Parks and Green Space

With Ausable River, Ailsa Craig is a wonderful town to live in for those who love nature. There is excellent fishing, quiet roads for biking, and plenty of fresh air. There are two main parks in this small town.

Ailsa Craig Lions Park - This park has washrooms, beautiful landscaping, large, wide-open green space, a soccer field, and a walking trail.

Alisa Craig Community Park - This park has fun for the whole family. It has a splash pad, skatepark, a baseball diamond, a playground, a pavilion with picnic tables, and a community center.

Arkona is just a short 47-minute drive to London and is just 26 minutes away from the sandy beach shores of Grand Bend. Although little, Arkona does draw in tourism and therefore has a good number of amenities in its boundaries for its size. It has a couple of food markets, shops such as Home Hardware and an appliance store, restaurants, a community center and a medical center.

This tiny community has multiple orchards and fruit farms. It’s a beautiful place to live with water flowing through the village and a golf course and a conservation area right there inside the town.

The Rock Glen Family Resort brings in families and individuals throughout the warmer months and offers plenty of family fun like a pool and activities. The Arkona Lions Museum hosts incredible fossils that date back over 350 million years ago and incredible historical artifacts and brings in more tourism.

Living in arva means having a small town community while being close to big city amenities. The Arva Flour Mill which the small town is most well known for and is believed to be one of North America's oldest commercial flour mills continuously powered by water. Arva is a less than a 5 minutes drive to CF Masonville Place mall, restaurants, plenty of entertainment and shopping. Within Arva there are a few stores, including a quilting shop and a consignment store.

Education - There are two schools situated in Arva: Centennial Central Public Dual Track School and Medway Highschool.

Delaware is the perfect place to live for those who love living in the country and being close to nature. This town has a community center that often hosts trivia nights and events throughout the year. They also have a library, restaurant, a legion, as well as a few other businesses and stores. For most amenities residents just need to take a short 10 minute drive to reach London.

Education - Delaware has two elementary schools within its boundaries: Delaware Central Public School and Our Lady of Lourdes. There is also a private school in Delaware called Riverbend Academy.

Sports - Slo-pitch City, which hosts a large number of baseball diamonds, food vendors, and a playground, is located in Dorchester and brings many Londoners over to this town during the slo-pitch season. While Dorchester might be a small town, it’s never a boring one! The Fairgrounds hosts two unforgettable annual events: the Oxford Renaissance Festival and the Dorchester Fall Fair. The latter brings medieval fun like jousting, jesters, and sword play. The Fall Fair has been going on for over 160 years and has plenty of games, competitions, food, and entertainment!

There are a number of great restaurants and shops here. The Flight Exec Centre is a large recreational facility with an indoor walking track, fitness centre, gym, and ice rinks. There is also the Dorchester Community Pool, which also has a splash pad, for outdoor fun when the weather gets hot.

Education - There are three elementary schools in the town. River Heights Public school goes from JK to grade 3, where students then transfer to Northdale Central Public School from grade 4 to 8. The third elementary school is St. David’s Catholic school which is JK to grade 8. For high school, there is Lord Dorchester Secondary School.

Education - Despite being a small town, there are three schools for students in Glencoe. The first school is St. Charles Elementary. The second is Ekcoe Central Public school The third school is Glencoe District High School.

Komoka has an easy and short commute to London and beats the heavy traffic of city driving.

Living in Komoka means that the big city amenities and entertainment of London is just a short drive away, but there are also some great amenities within the town itself. There are a number of restaurants here, a library,  grocery store, a wellnet center, a community center where plenty of town events and celebrations are held, as well as other shops and businesses.

Education - Parkview Public School is located in the middle of Komoka and is the elementary school that services this community. Komoka also has a private school, Providence Reformed Collegiate, which is a Christian Secondary School. For other education, students head into London.

There is a long-term care facility here. In terms of education there is Sacred Hearts Catholic Elementary School and North Middlesex District High School.
